The outgoing Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake is renowned for many things. Being brutally powerful and fast, deadly in the wrong hands, and exhilarating, but words which don’t spring to mind are handcrafted, elegant and sophisticated.
That’s where Italian company Vilner comes in. It is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a bang, and what better base to start with than one of 500 Super Snakes, with its 634kW and 830Nm, 5.8-litre supercharged V8.
The interior receives a complete overhaul, with cream leather extending from the seats well into the dash panel. Carbon fibre inserts are prevalent throughout, with Alcantara inserts on the dash and even the steering wheel boss. This is contrasted by elegant red stitching.
Even areas which are out of sight such as the steering column and inner door panels are wrapped in Alcantara. The company says it has eliminated the tacky hard plastics throughout the cabin.
Other detail touches include carbon fibre seatbelt holders, and some high gloss carbon pieces along the transmission tunnel and door cards.
The car goes to a Romanian client for an unspecified price. The level of craftsmanship is more-or-less on par with Ferrari standards, and this is for a buyer who wanted to stand out from the horse herd.
