The striking R-Design version of the all-new 2015 Volvo XC90 SUV has been revealed, showing Volvo’s ongoing commitment to sportiness and flare.
Like other R-Design models in the Volvo showroom, the XC90 R-Design will become the flagship trim line. It comes with 20-inch alloy wheels – or optional 22s – as well as a subtle bodykit with various silver highlights, and a bespoke interior with sports seats.
Being the top-flight model the R-Design gets the full 12.3-inch graphic driver display and a touch-screen interface in the dash. There’s also sporty details such as R-Design floor mats, gear lever, pedals, and a special leather key remote control.
A choice of powertrains will be on offer, including the flagship hybrid with 300kW of power. Other Drive E turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel units will be offered as well. Alain Visser, senior vice president, marketing, sales and customer service of Volvo Car Group, said,
“R-Design is created for people with a passion for things that add spice to life. It appeals to customers that love active driving and a personal, expressive design. Every single R-Design detail is designed to contribute to the individualistic and refined expression these customers desire.”
Volvo released 1927 special First Edition examples of the XC90, for pre-order exclusively online, and all sold out in 47 hours. The new model is expected to be a game-changer when it arrives next year, leading the way in terms of safety and technology in its class.
Volvo Australia says it will announce the local lineup and prices closer to its launch.
