2018 Maserati Quattroporte update now on sale in Australia

Looking to buy a new large luxury sedan? Maserati has just announced the updated 2018 Quattroporte for the local market. It brings in a new V6 engine, more tech and boosted safety.

Starting with the engine. The 2018 Quattroporte is offered with a higher-output version of the 3.0-litre twin-turbo Ferrari-developed V6. In the Quattroporte it produces a meaty 321kW and 580Nm, capable of dusting off 0-100km/h in a claimed 5.0 seconds. Fuel economy on the official combined cycle is rated at 9.6L/100km.

Other units on offer include the 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 that churns out 202kW and 600Nm, as well as the low-tune 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 that develops 257kW and 500Nm. Meanwhile, at the top of the range, the GTS variants get a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 that kicks out 390kW and 650Nm. It’s able to sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.7 seconds.

To boost its visual presence the 2018 model receives some new LED adaptive headlights, while the GranSport versions gain a gloss black grille for that sporty, sinister look. Other than these minor changes the Quattroporte continues as elegantly as before.

Technology is boosted significantly for the new model, with convenient and efficiency-focused items such as soft-close doors, electronic power steering, and the availability of Highway Assist adaptive cruise control coming in. The electronic steering system allows for Level 2 autonomous driving capability.

The system also helps pave the way for a new Integrated Vehicle Control system which is capable of reading the conditions ahead and adapting the brakes and engine speed accordingly. Maserati says this results in higher drive-through speeds during dynamic testing (such as in slalom and lane changing), as well as improving track lap times. Speaking about the update, Glen Sealey, COO for Maserati Australia, said:

“For 2018 these achievements are enhanced with more performance, technology and features that enhance its exceptional position in the market place that will continue to draw clients to a car that is exclusive, sophisticated and unique.”
