Yep, the old girl is still kicking on. The 2019Jeep Grand Cherokee Upland special edition has been announced for Australia to help reinvigorate the ageing model line.
The limited edition is based on the Laredo and features a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine. This unit produces a strong 184kW and 570Nm, which is sent through an eight-speed automatic transmission and into a constant four-wheel drive system.
Unique to the Upland edition are a range of styling and specification upgrades. For the exterior Jeep has fit exclusive 20-inch alloy wheels in a five-spoke design and painted in black. Gloss black is also used for front grille trim, roof rails, side mirrors, and for the 4×4 badge.
Inside, the Grand Cherokee Upland comes with the 8.4-inch touch-screen Uconnect multimedia system, featuring in-built sat-nav, a rear-view camera, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. To brighten up the decor, some Desert Sky blue stitching is applied for some of the trim.
Finishing it all off, the wheels are wrapped in off-road-ready Goodyear All-Terrain Wrangler tyres, and there’s deep-tint for windows, and darken taillights. Desert Sky blue is also applied to the exterior badges for that unique touch.
The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Upland offers a brake towing capacity of 3500kg, making it ideal for the adventurous family. The Quadra-Trac II four-wheel drive system also helps with serious off-roading, with a two-speed transfer case with high and low range for really tricky conditions.
Just 44 examples of the Upland are up for grabs in Australia. Prices start from $61,450 (excluding on-roads). Jeep says customers are getting nearly $7000 in added value for only a $3500 price hike over the Laredo 4×4 3.0 diesel.
