If you love enhancement packages, especially those created by the car manufacturer so the factory warranty is all retained, you’ll love this. BMW Australia is announcing a comprehensive kit for the new M2 Competition, called the M Performance Parts Launch Package.
The launch package is being introduced to celebrate the arrival of the new variant. In case you missed it, the M2 Competition is a more hardcore version of the M2, featuring the ‘S55’ 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline six engine from the M3 and M4.
In the M2 Competition the engine produces 302kW and 550Nm, which propels the compact, rear-wheel drive sports coupe from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. If you opt for the seven-speed dual-clutch auto that time is reduced to 4.2 seconds.
So, what’s the M Performance Parts Launch Package all about? Well, it basically pulls together some of the most desirable optional accessories and enhancements from M Performance, and puts them all into one turn-key kit.
Enhancements are made to the exterior via unique carbon fibre parts such as the front splitter, rear spoiler and side mirrors, while the bonnet is also swapped for a lighter weight carbon fibre item. There’s also a chunky carbon diffuser at the rear.
Inside, passengers are greeted with carbon fibre sill plates with M Performance labelling, while the dash and centre console gets the full carbon fibre treatment. Facing the driver is a ‘Pro’ steering wheel with the centre position highlighted, and carbon trim for the spokes and M Performance branding.
BMW Australia says the pack is available from $15,990. However, going with the complete kit provides a saving of $7000 as opposed to ordering the parts separately. The package is fitted at the dealer and requires around seven hours to complete. Prices for the standard M2 Competition start from the following (excludes on-road costs):
2019 BMW M2 Competition Pure: $99,900
2019 BMW M2 Competition: $104,900
