An example of Lamborghini’s incredible Sesto Elemento has propped up for sale on the internet, on one of the world’s most decadent, plutocratic marketplaces: James Edition.
From sellers Opulent Motors, the full carbon fibre lightweight supercar can be yours for €2,650,000 (about AU$3,816,678). Located in the United Kingdom, the car is one of only 20 made and has travelled only 10km.
The Sesto Elemento debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, to widespread acclaim. Featuring new carbon fibre manufacturing techniques, the car shared proportions and a 5.2-litre V10 with the Gallardo, but weighed an astonishing 999kg.
This was also thanks to an absence of seat frames, replaced by cushions integrated into the chassis. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is achieved in an unbelievable 2.5 seconds.
The 425kW and 540Nm V10 channels its rage through a six-speed dual-clutch transaxle system with all-wheel drive. This provides a power-to-weight ratio of just 2.35kg:1kW.
Its interior is a work of art, with only the minimum of required controls and exposed carbon fibre everywhere. Most of the furniture and dash shapes look like they come from a futuristic space ship, with red and black give it a certain venomous theme.
Lamborghini is working on a ‘Superleggera’ version of the current Huracan, with lost of weight reduction and a hike in power expected. It probably won’t match the Sesto Elemento for acceleration or weight though, with speculation pointing to a sub 3.0-second 0-100km/h time and weight of around 1300kg.
