The new four-eyed facelift for the 2017 Skoda Octavia has a few technological tricks up its sleeve, including a sophisticated infotainment system called Skoda Connect.

If your commute frequently involves painful traffic, then you’ll love some of the features included, such as Online Traffic Information that gives viewers a real-time view of traffic conditions and flow, as well as providing alternate route options.

Google Street View and Google Earth add a dimension of photo-realism while Online Map Update keeps things current.

The Care Connect system is also part of the new technology package and includes eCall that automatically calls emergency services in the event of a crash. There is also Proactive Services which notifies the dealer to contact the owner when it is time for a service.

The Skoda Connect app allows the owner to monitor many aspects of the car, even including whether the doors are open or closed, parking location and Honk&Flash to make it easier to locate in a busy parking lot.

Completing the story is pedestrian detection, city emergency braking, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert and more.

The new Octavia should hit Australian showrooms in the second quarter of 2017. Watch the video below to see the new infotainment system in action.
