Audi is planning to launch four new high performance ‘RS’ models next year, including the Audi RS 5 Cabriolet. This teaser image has certainly stirred up some speculation as to what the new models will be.
As you can see by the teaser, at least one of the four new RS vehicles (far left) will be an SUV with a conventionally high-riding body and roof. Industry critics are suggesting this could be a production version of the Audi Q3 RS concept vehicle the company unveiled earlier this year.
The Q3 RS is expected to come with the same roaring 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder seen in the Audi TT RS sports coupe. In the concept it produces 265kW of power, enabling 0-100km/h sprints in just 5.2 seconds.
As for the other two cars in the image, the car next to the red RS 5 Cabriolet is very likely to be the RS 6 Avant revealed last week. The new model is powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 412kW and 700Nm. It will go on sale in Australia towards the end of 2013.
Lastly, the car next to that is a bit of a difficult one. Some say it’s an RS 7 Sportback, which could borrow much of the powertrain from the RS 6, only it would be featured in the sleek A7 Sportback four-door coupe body.
An RS 7 would certainly make sense as it would give Audi some competition against the recently revealed BMW M6 Gran Coupe, and the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG.
More details are expected to be revealed at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, starting January 14.
