Honda’s new ZR-V is officially on sale in Australia, squeezing in between the HR-V and the CR-V with four variants, and prices for which range from $40,200 to $54,900 drive-away.

It’s no small moment, considering the ZR-V is Honda’s first brand new model to arrive here in Australia in two decades. The ZR-V range features a choice of a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-pot producing 131kW/240Nm, while the range-topping e:HEV LX pairs a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with two electric motors producing a combined 135kW/315Nm.

Fuel economy figures for the standard ZR-V range stand at 7.0L/100km, while the hybrid unit drops fuel use down to 5.0L/100km on the combined cycle.

Honda’s entry-level ZR-V VTi X comes fitted with 17-inch alloys, adaptive LED headlights, cloth upholstery with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, a 10.2-inch instrument cluster and a 9.0-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.

Standard safety equipment for the ZR-V range includes AEB with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assistance, front and rear parking sensors and active cornering lights.

Stepping up to the VTi L brings the price to $43,200 drive-away, and adds 18-inch alloys, combination LED taillights, leatherette upholstery with heated front seats, LED ambient lighting and metal paddle shifters.

The VTi LX comes fitted with two-tone 18-inch alloys, black leather upholstery with heated rear seats, sports pedals, sat-nav, body-coloured bumpers, wireless phone charging and a 12-speaker sound system with a $48,500 price tag to match. It also receives added safety gear like rear cross-traffic alerts, a surround-view camera and blind-spot monitoring.

The hybrid e:HEV LX Hybrid is priced from $54,990 drive-away and picks up the same features list as its petrol siblings, with the addition of a shift-by-wire gear selector and a smart key card.

Honda says the ZR-V has now hit its dealerships, with Australian director, Carolyn McMahon, saying:

“The Honda ZR-V is Honda Australia’s first, brand-new core model to be introduced in Australia in 20 years. We are truly excited for the launch of the Honda ZR-V into the Australian market and to provide customers even more choice when considering the Honda brand.”
