Not one to be outdone, American tuning house and vehicle manufacturer Hennessey Performance (HPE) has spilled the beans on plans for the 2016 Cadillac CTS-V.
In Hennessey tradition, the firm is setting high goals for the new HPE1000 package, hoping to take the crown for fastest four-door sedan in the world. The plan is to get the CTS-V to hit an outrageous 390km/h.
To achieve this, a massive power boost is in store for the sedan. It starts with strengthening of the 6.2-litre V8 block, removing the stock supercharger and replacing it with twin turbochargers. Founder of the company John Hennessey had this to say:
“A couple of years ago, the State of Texas gave us the opportunity to test one of our specially tuned CTS-Vs – our VR1200 Twin Turbo coupe. It ran 221 mph (356 km/h) on State Highway 130, near the Circuit of the Americas. It was still pulling on when we ran out of road. I believe that our 2016 twin-turbo CTS-V will have a top speed approaching 240mph (386 km/h)”.
The company also plans to dress up the exterior to give it a unique look, with dark alloy wheels and dark bodykit components. Some carbon-ceramic brakes will also be part of the package.
Hennessey is planning to build just 24 units per year, beginning in 2016. HPE is also planning a variety of performance upgrades for the new CTS-V, including an engine option that increases power from the stock supercharged V8 up to 596kW.
