Jeep is synonymous with off-roading, but this version courtesy of Starwood Motors is something more akin to what Arnold Schwarzenegger would have driven in his hey-day. The 2013 version of the Full Metal Jacket Jeep is the second rendition of Starwood’s custom off-roader and comes in at US$106,888.
Starting life as a Jeep Wrangler, this monstrosity features a range of custom features that could help it tackle any condition. The FMJ is powered by a Chrysler Pentastar 3.6-litre V6 engine, which churns out 209kW and propels the vehicle from 0-60mph (97km/h) in 8.4 seconds.
Power is supplied to all four wheels via a heavy duty axle and diff’ setup, which includes a G2 Dana 60 Rock Jock rear assembly and air locker differentials. The FMJ manages the demands of heavy terrain thanks to a long arm suspension system from Rubicon Express and 22-inch XD Bomb wheels wrapped in 40-inch Mud Grappler rubber.
In keeping with the military theme, kevlar adorns a number of the FMJ’s surfaces, including the body and floor. Most of the exterior panels are custom Smittybilt items and the pilot sits in a Procar seat. Then of course there’s a Kenwood DVD head unit, just in case it wasn’t enough fun driving this thing.
Not only does the FMJ look badass, it certainly goes like the clappers and wouldn’t be out of place in the PerformanceDrive garage. It’s just a shame it would cost a packet to bring it across from its manufacturer in Dallas, Texas.
