Following a leak a couple of weeks ago, Porsche has now officially unveiled the new, 2018-2019 911 GT3 RS ahead of its Geneva motor show debut next month.
The new model has been refined to extend on its performance credentials, while some tweaks to the styling and aero give it a fresher look. There’s a rigid rear wing, low front splitter, big side air intakes for the rear-mounted engine, and a chunky diffuser at the back supporting twin-outlet exhausts.
Power comes from a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine that develops 383kW. This is up 15kW on the outgoing model, and helps to see 0-100km/h done and dusted in just 3.2 seconds. The top speed is at a dizzying 312km/h.
Helping with performance is a set of 20-inch lightweight alloy wheels wearing newly-developed 265/35 front tyres and 21-inch rear wheels with 325/30 tyres. Porsche says some changes to the front axle have been made to enhance agility and steering behaviour.
Inside, Porsche has stripped back the decor a bit, fitting lightweight door panels with storage nets and door-pull loops, with reduced sound absorption material for less weight. Buyers can option for the Clubsport package which brings in a roll-over bar, fire extinguisher, battery disconnect switch, and six-point harnesses. This is available at no extra cost.
Porsche Australia says the new model is available to order now, with prices starting from $416,500 (excludes on-road costs). Local deliveries are set to commence in the last quarter of this year.
