Local pricing and specifications for the next-gen 2018 Subaru XV have been announced in the lead up to its market entry next month.
Four model variants will go on sale in Australia, spanning from the 2.0i, 2.0i-L, 2.0i Premium, to the top 2.0i-S. All are powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine, producing 115kW and 196Nm. All come with a CVT automatic transmission with all-wheel drive.
Subaru is boasting the XV’s class-leading ground clearance of 220mm, while also promising enhanced driving on poor condition roads with an X-Mode driving mode, with active torque vectoring further optimising cornering traction. Hill descent control is also added for increased safety when driving down steep hills.
Despite presenting a similar exterior design language as the outgoing model, the new XV really is all-new. It’s based on Subaru’s latest Global Platform that debuted under the latest Impreza. This, according to the company, helps the new XV offer top of the class driving dynamics.
As standard all variants come with a touch-screen interface packed with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay technology, along with climate control, two 12V power sockets, a rear-view camera, cruise control, and 17-inch alloy wheels at minimum.
Going for the top 2.0i-S gets you 18-inch wheels, sat-nav, leather trim, and Vision Assist safety systems (blind-spot monitoring, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and autonomous emergency braking in forward and reverse).
The new model comes more extensively equipped yet prices have been reduced in most cases compared with the equivalent outgoing models. See below for the new starting prices (excludes on-road costs), and further below for highlight features. It arrives mid-June.
