2017 Renault Megane wagon & sedan now on sale in Australia

The Megan range has been expanded in Australia with the introduction of the new sedan and wagon body styles. These are pitched to give Renault a stronger stance in the competitive small car market.

Three variant lines are being offered for the wagon, spanning from the Zen, GT-Line, and the top GT. Meanwhile, the sedan comes in Zen and Intens form only. Power comes from either a 1.2-litre turbo in most cases, developing 97kW and 205Nm, or a 1.6-litre turbo for the top GT, producing 151kW and 280Nm.

For us, it’s the GT wagon that attracts most. Featuring the 151kW turbo engine, it comes in as one of the sportiest wagons in the class. Standard features include launch control, all-wheel steering, Renault Sport suspension, a spruced up interior with bucket seats, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Other highlights for the rest of the range include an 8.7-inch touch-screen interface with sat-nav for the GT-Line, optional Advanced Driver Assistance System with emergency autonomous braking, and a rear-view camera.

All variants come with front and rear parking sensors, R-LINK 2 multimedia with a 7.0-inch touch-screen at minimum, Arkamys audio with eight speakers, auto headlights and wipers, and hill-start assist. Speaking about the new models, Justin Hocevar, Renault Australia’s managing director, said:

“The all-new Renault Megane wagon and sedan enable us to broaden our offer in one of the largest and most competitive segments of the new car market. With the welcome return of the Megane wagon to the range, Renault now has an even more practical vehicle for families with an active lifestyle, or for business users who need significant carrying capacity as well as the comfort, safety and performance of a passenger car.”
