An updated version of the 2014 Ford Focus MKII is now on sale, with all models now featuring rear parking sensors and emergency assistance as standard.

The update sees the Ambiente, Trend, Sport, and Titanium range gain new features, with prices starting from $20,290. These changes are expected to send off the current shape Focus before the next-gen model is launched later this year.

Parking sensors are now standard on the base Ambiente model, while the Trend gains dual zone climate control, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlights, auto dimming mirror, and follow-me-home lighting, some of which was previously included in the ‘convenience pack’ option. The Sport model now receives the added convenience of keyless entry and push-button start.

Adding to its already tech-savvy list of features, the range-topping Titanium model now comes with a power sunroof as standard, which means the sports executive pack (HID headlights, active city stop and adaptive cruise control) sees its price slashed from $2300 down to $1200.

Ford Australia vice president of marketing, sales and service, Graeme Whickman, said:

“We are always looking at ways to make sure our customers are getting features they want and desire.”

“These added features will ensure Focus remains a key consideration among prospective buyers.”

“With its efficient, yet powerful engines, Ford SYNC connectivity and five-star ANCAP crash rating, the Focus has exactly what our customers expect of a compact hatch and sedan.”

The emergency assistance feature, also available in the Fiesta ST, Kuga and EcoSport, is a safety feature that delivers a voice message directly to 000 emergency operators via the car’s Bluetooth system in the event the vehicle’s airbags are deployed or the fuel cut-off switch has been activated.
