Skoda, a manufacturer not exactly famed for its performance cars, has lifted the lid on the exciting new Octavia RS 230 special edition ahead of its official premiere in Geneva.
The RS 230 comes packaged with the high-output, 169kW 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine also found in the VW Golf GTI Performance. It takes the Octavia from 0-100km/g in 6.7 seconds, with a top speed of 250km/h, translating to the fastest Octavia to date.
The RS 230 is the first Skoda production car to offer an electronically-controlled differential lock for the front axle, which enables more dynamic performance and front-end grip than ever before.
The fastest of the Octavia variants comes packaged with “a racy design, sporty interior, modern technology and impressive power” and will be fully unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
Skoda has confirmed that deliveries of the Octavia RS 230 will start in June. Skoda Australia is yet to confirm if the edition will be brought over to local shores. Let’s hope so.
The current range-topping Octavia in Australia is the RS. It comes in sedan and wagon format, equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 162kW and 350Nm. It’s capable of 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds. Prices start at $36,790 for the RS sedan (excluding on-roads).
