Lamborghini has been spotted hooning around a prototype version of the highly anticipated Superleggera; lightweight version of the Huracan.
We haven’t heard much about the next-gen Superleggera, otherwise known as the successor to the old Gallardo Superleggera. This will be the lighter weight, stripped out, and more hardcore version.
The Huracan is currently available in three main forms, including coupe and Spyder, and the 580-2 rear-wheel drive model. It’s understood the new Superleggera will step in as the most powerful variant.
In the engine compartment is expected to sit a slightly tweaked version of the 5.2-litre V10, with power lifted from 449kW to around 460kW. This will only be a minor part of the increased performance equation though.
As Gallardo Superleggera fans will be quick to point out, weight reduction is what counts. So with the new Huracan there’s speak of up to 100kg being stripped, which will really help performance thanks to an improved power-to-weight ratio.
Finally, the exterior looks like it will get a major overhaul. This prototype, recently spotted at the Nurburgring, shows clues of a more dramatic aero kit, with a big fixed rear wing, more aggressive front apron and sterner side skirts.
A full debut is expected to take place at the Paris show in September. Check out the video below for a preview.
