What’s faster, a Porsche 918 or a Rolls-Royce Wraith? Nope. It turns out the Rolls-Royce has a cheeky grin on its face following some interesting results at the iconic hill climb course at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
A Rolls-Royce Wraith completed the 1.86km course in 57.21 seconds, faster than a Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale Centennial Edition, (59.00), the Bentley Continental GT (1:00.65), a Maserati GranCabrio MC (1:00.66), and even a Porsche 918 Spyder with the optional Weissach package (1:01.37).
The Wraith was piloted by hill-climb specialist Joerg Weidinger, who managed to set the time crossing the line at more than 170km/h. The time was impressive enough to better the company’s previous climb record which was set in 2014.
To refresh you memory the Wraith is the coupe version of the Ghost, and is powered by a 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 oozing out 465kW and 800Nm. The unit is matched to an eight-speed automatic. Sprinting from 0-100km/h can be achieved in under 5.0 seconds. In Australia, prices start at $645,000.
