This is it, folks. It’s almost here. It is perhaps one of the most anticipated new seven-seat SUVs of this year. The Ford Everest.
As we already know, the Everest is a heavy-duty SUV based on the Ranger ute which will eventually replace the Territory. And Ford is promising some pretty impressive features and on and off road capability with the all-new model.
Some of the highlights include a 3000kg towing capacity, active noise cancellation technology, and SYNC connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot service. There’s also tyre pressure monitoring, auto high-beam, and a power tailgate in the mix.
Under the bonnet, the Everest will come with a 3.2-litre turbo-diesel five-cylinder engine producing 143kW and 470Nm. All variants come with a six-speed automatic, with a combined fuel consumption of 8.5L/100km.
Power is sent through a four-wheel drive system which offers the driver four different driving modes to suit various terrain types. The ‘Terrain Management System’ is paired with the traction and stability control programs, and the roll stability system.
In terms of off-road preparation, the Everest offers a water wading depth of 800mm, while presenting 225mm of ground clearance. It should be able to tackle some pretty tough conditions with a 25-degree departure angle, although its 21-degree approach angle is not as impressive. An electronic locking rear differential is also standard for the really sticky situations
As for the interior, the Everest is boasting 30 storage areas with a total volume of 48 litres. In the cargo areas there is up to 2010 litres of space on offer, with 50:50 split-fold third-row seats.
Three variant grades will be available when the model arrives in Australia in October. These range from the Everest, the Everest Trend, to the flagship Titanium. Prices will start from the following (excluding on-road costs), with standard features listed below.
