Check out this for the ultimate weekend slash workhorse. It’s the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Sport concept which was unveiled at the State Fair of Texas earlier this week.
There’s no denying the appeal of big, sporty 4×4 dual-cab utes. In Australia, the market segment is one of the most popular, with motorists attracted to the overall versatility; they can be workhorses during the week and transform into a toy or toy-carrier on the weekend.
Chevrolet is showing the possibilities of blending the two lifestyles together with the Sport concept. It features two mountain bikes in the tray, special side steps and wheel arch lips, and some additional plastic protective trimmings front and rear.
The exterior also features racing stripes over the bonnet, a chunky roll bar in the back, and an innovative GearOnTM Accessory System which is able to carry larger items above the tray walls and smaller goods within the tray underneath. Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager at GM, said,
“It’s not just mountain bikes, but just about any passion you can name, from kayaking, fishing, dirt bikes and more. It’s a truck for those who need the versatility of a pickup to support their work and lifestyle interests, but don’t need a full-size truck to do it.”
Although the ute isn’t set to go into production any time soon as is, Chevrolet says most of the accessories can be bought from a dealer, including the bike rack and splash guards and various black highlights. The unique wheels however are still under evaluation for production.
It might not seem like it but this 2015 Colorado could be closer to home than you might think. As we all know, Holden will soon import its vehicles through GM’s international portfolio, which means there is a potential for more parts and accessories to be made available as well.
