With the epic Tour de France cycling endurance race over for another year, Jaguar has decided to give this year’s winner a very impressive gift; a spanking new Jaguar F-Type. Winner Chris Froome is understandably stoked to receive such a present.
It’s unknown what variant it is specifically – an V6 S or V8 S – the F-Type does feature a special Team Sky Pro Cycling livery, and is themed in a unique two-tone colour scheme. It also showcases a selection of photographs collected via Jaguar’s #GetBehindTeamSky social media campaign.
The team’s official support vehicle this year was a Jaguar XF Sportbrake wagon, which was used to follow Froome throughout the huge cross country event. Froome recently said,
“Every young cyclist dreams of one day riding in the Tour de France, let alone winning it. I haven’t done it alone though. Team Sky has a great set of partners, and I’d like to thank Jaguar for their brilliant support over the past four years. They’ve invested a lot of time and ingenuity into designing the XF Sportbrake, which is the perfect race support car for us. It has been crucial to keeping the team on the road throughout the competition.”
Meanwhile, David Steele, Jaguar global brand experience director, commented on the astounding effort, saying,
“It is an absolute pleasure to once again celebrate a Tour de France victory with Team Sky. Being part of the story is a real privilege for everyone at Jaguar. We congratulate the Team and I am sure Chris Froome will enjoy celebrating with an invigorating drive in his new F-TYPE.”
The F-Type will arrive in Australia in the coming weeks. It’ll be available with a 250kW supercharged V6, a 280kW version, and a V8 S with a supercharged V8 offering 364kW. Prices start at $139,000.
