Production of the scorching V12 Lamborghini Aventador has hit 2000 in just over two years. This makes it considerably more successful than the Murcielago (predecessor), which took over fours years to reach the same milestone.
The Aventador was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011, showcasing an all-new body, all-new 515kW 6.5-litre V12 engine, and all-new technologies throughout.
Although the industry and the market has been heading towards more eco-focused cars, it’s good to know supercars are still popular. And in this case, the Aventador has been more popular than its V12 predecessor.
It took around four and a half years before the 2000th version of the Murcielago was produced, according to Lamborghini. The company says it is now building around five Aventadors per day.
As for the 2000th model, it was sold to an avid Lamborghini enthusiast in the US. The new owner, Thaddeus Arroyo, chief intelligence officer for AT&T, also owns a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder. He said he wanted an Aventador after sampling one at an event at Palm Beach.
The Aventador, including the recently introduced Roadster version, is built at the company’s Sant’ Agata Bolognese production plant in Italy. The order list for both models is apparently banked up for the next 12 months.
