Remember Hyundai’s new N Line performance enhancement and options that were announced in Europe a few months ago? Well, even if you don’t, this will come as great news; N Line is now available for the 2019 Hyundai i30.
Coinciding with the 2019 i30 launch, Hyundai Australia is giving buyers the option to spruce up their practical hatchback with a new N Line enhancement pack. The pack is available in N Line and N Line Premium, and they essentially come in to replace the outgoing SR variants.
It’s easy to spot the differences between the rest of the range. N Line brings in a discreet yet athletic aero kit derived from the one used on the i30 N hot hatch. This includes a cool front and rear spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels, and some sports seats inside. There’s also a sporty steering wheel, gear shifter, and a number of red highlights.
No changes are made under the bonnet. So, for the 2019 Hyundai i30 N Line, power comes from the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine producing 150kW and 265Nm. This is the same unit that powered the SR variants, and it’s available with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch auto.
Speaking about the new addition to the range, Hyundai Motor Company Australia CEO, JW Lee, said:
“The new 2019 i30 N Line models build on the sporty appeal of the previous i30 SR to make our award-winning small car an even more compelling proposition. With the N Line, owners can have an i30 N-derived performance package combined with the everyday practicability of our core Hyundai models.”
Like the regular i30, the i30 N Line uses an Australian-specific suspension tune, comprising of a strut system at the front and a multi-link rear end. Some Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres also provide extra grip for sporty driving over the regular models.
Five variant grades for 2019 are now on sale, spanning from the Go, Active, N Line, Elite, N Line Premium, to the top Premium. Prices start from the following (excluding on-road costs).
It’s unknown if Australia will eventually be offered the full potential of N Line performance parts, like what was showcased on the awesome i30 N Option show car a couple of months ago. We’ll have to wait and see and keep you posted.
