McLaren’s MSO department has worked its magic once again, showing off the potential of the special operations division. This time it has transformed the new McLaren 600LT into a fiercer beast.
Scheduled to make its public debut at this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance event in California, McLaren has released a handful of images and details to whet your appetite. The show car is painted in a unique Stealth Grey.
The 600LT is already a more aggressive, more powerful and faster version of a regular model, based on the 570S, but MSO has managed to turn up the octane via aero and cosmetic enhancements and through weight reduction measures.
For the exterior there’s a full carbon fibre upgrade package with carbon door mirrors, front splitter and side louvres, rear bumper bar and chunky diffuser, and a McLaren F1 Longtail-inspired carbon roof scoop that feeds air straight into the V8 engine behind the cabin.
To really set the MSO machine apart from the regular model is a set of “ultra lightweight” 10-spoke forged alloy wheels, finished in gloss black for that really stealth look.
Inside, the decor is treated to a range of similarly seductive frills, with “super-lightweight carbon fibre racing seats” for the passengers. These are taken from the McLaren Senna. There’s also contrast orange stitching, with the otherwise optional carbon fibre “upgrade pack” adding carbon to the centre console and door trims. A set of MSO Clubsport Pro six-point harnesses and racing pedals complete the kit. Speaking about the unique edition, Ansar Ali, managing director of McLaren Special Operations, said:
“MSO Bespoke was established to help customers realise their dreams and allows an almost limitless level of customisation where imagination is the only restrictive factor. With MSO Defined we offer a range of personalisation beyond the standard factory options. For this special 600LT we have combined a sprinkling of both to create a car that showcases the lightness and track-focused performance of this latest Longtail variant.”
As per the regular 600LT, the MSO edition is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 600PS (442kW) at full song, and 620Nm of torque. This propels the sleek supercar from 0-100km/h in just 2.9 seconds, with 0-200km/h requiring only 8.2 seconds.
We’re sure show-goers will be blown away by the special edition at the event this weekend. The regular McLaren 600LT will make its Australian debut in September.
