Dutch company Spyker has hit Geneva Motor Show attendees from the left of field with a surprise revision to the C8 Preliator, and a surprise collaboration with another supercar company.
Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg will be supplying Spyker with an all-new naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8. It has 447kW and 600Nm, giving it a specific power output of 89.4kW/L. The engine looks beautifully finished with orange rocker covers and the Koenigsegg shield. It features dry-sump lubrication, but no sign of Koenigsegg’s FreeValve system which does away with camshafts entirely. Christian von Koenigsegg spoke of the collaboration:
“I have known Victor and Spyker for way over a decade, and we obviously share the passion for handcrafted and bespoke automobiles. It gives us great pleasure to work with Spyker to design and produce an engine specifically for them that will suit the handcrafted, luxurious, and high-performance nature of all Spyker cars. In terms of performance, the introduction of our light, responsive, and powerful engine will transform the driving experience of the Preliator.”
The C8 can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.6 seconds on its way to a 322km/h terminal velocity. It now features a semi-automatic removable roof with Litano leather upholstery for the interior. A new colour palate has been added too. Suspension is supplied by Lotus while five-piece luggage by Luis Vuitton is also available.
