Volvo’s performance brand Polestar has announced it will soon be offering bespoke sporty accessories for most models in the showroom, allowing customers to personalise their factory Volvo cars.
A bit like how BMW has its M Performance accessories range and Mercedes has its AMG Sport parts, Polestar is investing time into developing unique components for the V40, S60/V60, and the XC60, at least initially, with more on the way.
Not to be confused with the dedicated S60/V60 Polestar sports cars, now out of production, the new arrangement is designed to enhance factory cars, with interior and exterior tweaks, suspension parts, wheels, and exhaust systems. Niels Möller, chief operating officer of Polestar, said:
“We have received strong feedback over a long period of time from customers all over the world regarding Polestar Performance Parts. We are delighted to be able to meet the demand, starting from today. This is a product improving on the already strong base of Volvo cars in terms of performance, handling and driving pleasure.”
The Polestar Performance Parts will be available as a complete package, bringing chassis, intake and exhaust, wheel and tyre, and styling enhancements all into one. Buyers will also be able to option for specific items separately.
More details, including specific market region availability, will be announced soon. Prices are also yet to be confirmed for specific markets. Volvo says the parts will be available through participating Volvo dealerships.
With Australia being the pioneer market for Polestar Performance Optimisation, we are likely to be included in the global rollout. PerformanceDrive has contacted Volvo Australia in regards to a potential local introduction. We will update this story as soon as we hear more.
UPDATE: Greg Bosnich, director corporate and PR at Volvo Car Australia, confirmed with PerformanceDrive the parts will be available in Australia during the second quarter of this year, for V40, S60 (current), V60 and XC60. Bosnich said:
“The parts will be offered through the normal channels of our Australia-wide dealer network. Arriving beginning of Q2, 2016.”
