Meet the new fastest four-seat drop-top in the world; the 2013 Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible. This is the open-top version of the company’s fastest ever production car, the GT Speed.
Bentley vehicles used to be all about softness, subtle performance, and fine British craftsmanship. Nowadays, things have changed and moved on a bit, more or less in a good way, mostly thanks to its new German owners at Volkswagen.
The British marque now has the technology not only for high-end luxury, but also high-end performance and speed.
Using the same colossal 6.0-litre twin-turbo W12 engine as seen in the GT Speed coupe, the convertible version produces 460kW of power and 800Nm of tarmac-wrenching torque.
Out on the road, the new model is able to cover 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds, and as for the magic top speed, the flying B can reach a majestic and proud 325km/h.
Like the coupe brother, the GT Speed is the ‘sportiest’ version of the big Continental. This means it comes with 10mm lowered sports suspension with stiffer dampers and stabiliser bars, revised steering for more precision, as well as unique 21-inch alloy wheels for added styling.
The stunning new model will make its official debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14. It will then go on sale in international markets during the middle of this year. Australian market details are yet to be announced.
