There’s a new Aston Martin on the way, potentially based on the latest Vanquish. Unfortunately, the British carmaker has only released a very brief teaser video.
It’s hard to tell from such a quick preview, but by the looks of it Aston Martin might be planning a special ‘carbon edition’ of the new Vanquish.
Aston is no stranger to carbon editions. In the past it has released a carbon edition for almost all of its models, including the DBS Carbon Edition that we tested in 2012.
Some clues in the video teaser that suggest such a model include a flash up of the chemical symbol for carbon, a ‘C’, at about the 0:07 mark, as well as its atomic mass, 12.011. You also get a quick glimpse of various carbon fibre components.
If it is a carbon edition we can expect a nice smattering of carbon fibre trimmings, including a bespoke carbon bodykit with a front lip spoiler, side skirts, and a chunkier rear diffuser than the regular Vanquish unit.
Power isn’t likely to be tweaked for the 5.9-litre V12 engine. In the recently-updated 2015 Vanquish the mighty unit produces 424kW of power and 630Nm. It’s matched up to a new eight-speed ZF auto transmission helping the stunning grand tourer skittle off from 0-100km/ in just 3.8 seconds.
Whatever it ends up being we can expect it to make an official public debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show starting October 2. More details will be revealed on September 10. We’ll be sure to keep you updated.
