An image of the Lexus UX concept has leaked out early, revealing a rather edgy new SUV design. It’s set to inspire a compact premium SUV of the future.
Like all premium car manufacturers, and pretty much all carmakers actually, SUVs of all shapes and sizes are important products for success in the auto industry. Buyers just can’t get enough of them.
Lexus is set to be one of the last of the premium brands to offer something for the compact segment, meeting the Audi Q2, BMW X1, and Mercedes GLA, and also the new Infiniti QX30. As a trademark find told us earlier this year, Lexus is likely to be planning a small lineup potentially wearing the badges UX 200, UX 250, UX 250h.
The Lexus UX concept looks like the company’s current SUV models, like the NX and RX, only pumped with steroids. The wheel arches are massive, making it look like a dune-spec rally car. There’s also a futuristic, thin, and sharp taillight spearing across the tailgate, with twin exhausts discreetly nestled below.
It’s thought the UX range will be based on the new Toyota C-HR compact SUV. It itself is based on Toyota’s New Generation Architecture platform which debuted underneath the new Prius. And we can confirm, it seems like a well-sorted platform.
Lexus will probably spill all of the details very soon, possibly just before a Paris motor show debut later this month.
