Renowned American tuners and makers of the world record-breaking Venom GT, Hennessey Performance, has teased a Camaro aimed directly at the upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, with a name to go with that ambition: Exorcist.
Based on the current ZL1, which is already a formidable muscle car with 485kW and 881Nm to begin with, Hennessey has wound that up to 1000hp (745kW) and an earth-tilting 1350Nm of torque.
This was achieved via a larger supercharger and intercooler, angrier cam in the valley, head porting for more generous airflow, long-tube extractors and ECU wizardry. Astonishingly, this is good enough for a 0-60mph (96km/h) time of under 3.0 seconds and a single digit quarter mile if you believe the company. Bear in mind this is on drag wheels, however.
How much on top of your Camaro should you expect to fork out for this organ-pounding speed? How about US$55,00 – which is around $72,578 when converted back to our local Dollarydoos. The ZL1 is equipped with the new 10-speed automatic will be looking at a further US$9950 (AU$13,130) to upgrade that transmission.
The Demon still promises to be an exceptionally fast and technology-packed car in itself, a comparison is inevitable.
Are you possessed by the Dodge Demon SRT Hellcat? Or does the power of Christ (Hennessey) compel you to a Camaro?
