The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC range update is getting ready to land in Australia, with a new entry model grade helping to bring down the entry price.
Joining the range for the first time is the GLC 200. It features a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine producing 135kW and 300Nm. It’s connected up to a nine-speed automatic, with all-wheel drive. Fuel economy figures haven’t been mentioned.
Despite being the base model, the new GLC 200 comes with plenty of standard features, including Parking Pilot and top-view camera, a power tailgate, 7.0-inch LCD screen with sat-nav and digital radio, along with ARTICO upholstery, LED headlights, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Other changes to the range including the deletion of the GLC 220 d. This was the entry model previously, but it can no longer be ordered. Mercedes-Benz Australia hasn’t provided a reason for its deletion, so we’ll assume it was because of lacklustre sales.
Moving up the range, the GLC can be had in 250 form with a 155/350Nm 2.0L turbo, or buyers can choose the 250 d featuring a 2.1L turbo-diesel developing 150kW/500Nm, or up to the 350 d with a 190kW/620Nm 3.0L turbo-diesel V6.
For the performance fans, Mercedes offers the AMG 43 and 63. The 43 comes with a twin-turbo V6 producing 270kW/520Nm, capable of 0-100km/h in a claimed 4.9 seconds. If that’s not enough, the 63 uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 to punch out 375kW/700Nm, which is enough to see 0-100km/h done in a claimed 3.8 seconds.
The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC updated range will go into production in June. Prices start from the following (excludes on-roads):
