BMW has announced minor updates and special editions for its 2018 3 Series sedan and Touring wagon, including the Edition Sport and Edition Luxury packs.
Just as the 2 Series undergoes refreshments for the 2018 model year, and the final rear-wheel drive 1 Series hatchback gets dolled up before its reassignment operation turns it into a bum-dragging front-driver, the perennial 3 Series has now come in for some attention.
LED head and fog lamps are now standard across the range, with Sunset Orange now available as an exterior colour. New wheel designs are available in 17, 18 and 19 inches diameter. Inside, light trim revisions and new leather colours including Cognac are available for the first time. The Professional navigation system with revisions to the iDrive and TFT instrument display software offer more options for the driver.
There are also three new special editions. Edition Sport Line Shadow receives darkened head and taillight lenses and dark accents in the trim piece adjoining the headlights and kidney grille. Special 18-inch alloys are finished in black. Interior appointments include a contrasting seam on the instrument panel, sports steering wheel and combination leather/fabric seats. The interior trim is Dark Aluminium Carbon with Pearl Gloss Chrome accent strips.
Edition Luxury Line Purity has a more understated appearance with satin chrome appointments and 17-inch alloy (19s are optional), while the Edition M Sport Shadow has chrome black accents, 19-inch M Sport wheels as well as the M Sport extras you would get when specifying this variant.
Australian on-sale information will be released at a later date, although it is likely to hit up our local market later this year.
