To show its playful and sporty side, Lexus has dropped a new video promo called ‘The Crystal Gauntlet’, with drift superstar Rhys Millen piloting the brand’s most powerful rear-wheel drive cars around some very expensive obstacles.
Crystal ornaments and glassware from French manufacturer Baccarat are placed liberally around a room, with a GS F, RC F and LC 500 doing the tail-out dance around them with precision and gusto.
The four-door GS F and two-door RC F are powered by a 5.0-litre Yamaha-designed V8 that spits out 351kW and 530Nm. It is naturally aspirated and connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. PD has timed the GS F with a best of 5.08 seconds for the 0-100km/h sprint, and 5.04 seconds for the RC F.
The upcoming LC 500 utilises the same V8, but pairs it to an all-new 10-speed automatic. It is said to be good for a 4.5-second sprint to 100km/h, despite its daring and luxurious interior. It will reach Australian shores some time this year.
While the video is undoubtedly cool, we would not have complained if the LFA V10 supercar crashed the party (literally), even if it is no longer in production. Check out the video below and tell us what you think.
