G-Power has come up with a tune for BMW’s M550d Touring that has claimed the new speed record for the world’s fastest diesel-powered station wagon.
During a speed test, the tuned M550d was able to hit a top speed of 271.4km/h. The BMW M550d in standard form uses a 3.0-litre tri-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine, and thanks to G-Power, it now produces 320kW and 850Nm – 39kW and 110Nm more than the factory output.
The extra power comes thanks to G-Power’s D-Tronik 5 V1 module, and theM550d’s factory top speed has been lifted with an optional G-Power V-Max (300km/h max). Performance-wise, G-Power says the M550d can shoot from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
In addition to the extra power, G-Power has fitted up a set of its 21-inch Hurricane RR forged wheels, measuring 10.5 inches wide on the rear and 9.5 inches wide on the front.
Currently, BMW Australia only offers the 280kW/740Nm 3.0-litre tri-turbo six-cylinder diesel engine in the X5 M50d and X6 M50d. The X5 M50d is priced from $148,400, while the X6 M50d kicks off at $157,900 (both prices exclude on-road costs).
