The 2015 Ford S-Max has been revealed ahead of its Paris Motor Show debut next month. The new model follows the design theme of the 2015 Focus revealed earlier this year, with the sporty dynamics of Ford’s new Mondeo platform.
Starting with the design, the 2015 S-Max takes on Ford’s latest styling language. It features the new oval front grille and pronounced upper lip layout, as well as more elongated headlights and an updated rear end with modern taillights.
Underneath, the S-Max is based on the new Ford Mondeo platform and is set to be slightly larger to provide improved interior comfort and space. Practicality is also improved inside thanks to power adjustable second and third rows seats – a first in the class.
Engine specs are yet to be announced, however, it’s likely to come with a 2.0-litre TDCi turbo-diesel with power outputs spanning from 80kW to 132kW.
In the petrol lineup we can expect to see a new 1.5-litre EcoBoost turbo producing 118kW. A range-topping 2.0-litre EcoBoost developing 177kW will round out the lineup.
Both six-speed manual and six-speed dual-clutch auto units will probably be carried over from the outgoing range, while front-wheel drive will be the standard with an all-wheel drive option expected for the first time.
Other updates will include a new dash interface incorporating Ford’s SYNC2 program and touch-screen, a power adjustable steering column, a panoramic glass roof, and heated and cooled front seats with massage settings on some models.
The current S-Max isn’t sold in Australia but there could be a chance the new model will be introduced as part of Ford’s global ‘One Ford’ philosophy.
