Volkswagen is capitalising on the success of its T-Roc compact SUV and has confirmed the addition of a new entry-point into the range, in the form of the CityLife, which arrives in September.
Priced from $35,990 before on-road costs, VW hopes the new base model will appeal to prospective T-Roc buyers that want something slightly more affordable. The new variant sits below the T-Roc Style which is priced from $37,100.
It comes powered by the same 1.4-litre turbo four-pot you’ll find in most of the T-Roc range. The unit kicks out 110kW and 250Nm, sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic.
Standard equipment for the T-Roc CityLife includes a set of 17-inch alloys, LED headlights, a black grille, adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, cloth upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The T-Roc CityLife’s Technology pack features an 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, digital radio, wireless smartphone charging, front and rear AEB, park assist and a rear-view camera.
The T-Roc CityLife is set to arrive in Australian showrooms in September, with VW’s passenger vehicle director, Michal Szaniecki, saying:
“The price of the CityLife is comparable to smaller compact SUVs with fewer features, so we expect this to add significantly to the T-Roc’s market positioning and further increase its segment share.”
