Well that wasn’t long. Pretty much at the same time BMW unveiled the all-new 2019 G20 3 Series, the company’s sub-brand, M Performance, unveiled the full range of personalisation options and accessories that will be offered with the new model.
A special show car has been created to showcase what looks to be the full potential of the M Performance catalogue. Almost every area of the 3 Series is enhanced for a more sporty look and feel, including the exterior and interior.
Starting with the exterior, M Performance has come up with a traditionally restrained yet stealthy bodykit. There’s a bespoke front splitter made from carbon fibre, carbon fibre side mirror caps, unique side skirts with gloss black highlights, and a racy rear diffuser available in carbon fibre or matt black or gloss black.
Not stopping there, M Performance is also presenting a set of bespoke alloy wheels with sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches in size. These can be had in four different designs, including the somewhat unusual mesh-style spoke pattern featured here. Buyers will have the choice of matt black, ferric grey matt, or gloss lathed, or jet black, with light alloy or forged construction. Some serious multi-piston brakes will be available to hide behind these, too.
For the interior the possibilities are just as endless. You can go for a complex steering wheel with distinctive grip areas, a red 12 o’clock marking strip, and silver stitching. Some carbon fibre shift paddles can give it a certain F1-like touch, as with carbon fibre trimming and Alcantara wrapping.
In case you forget you’ve optioned M Performance parts, the division has come up with door projector lamps that beam BMW M logos onto the ground as you enter or exit the car. There’s also an M Performance key wallet made from Alcantara and carbon fibre, and plenty of M Performance labelling around the car.
The new 3 Series will go on sale in Europe in March next year, with Australian details yet to be announced. We’d expect it to arrive by around mid-2019, and like existing models, M Performance accessories are likely to be available here as well.
