Audi is continuing with the teaser train for the new Q2 compact SUV, with the latest preview giving us more of a peek at the front end and headlights.
Following on from the last teaser which showed the Q2 driving along a dirt road, with a distanced view from above, the latest video shows it on the ground kicking up some dust.
Audi is obviously wanting to show off the Q2’s off-road ability. However, like the rest of Audi’s SUV lineup, actual off-road performance is likely to be very limited, to dirt roads and wet slippery conditions, for example.
The Q2 will be the brand’s first compact SUV and it will also be the first premium compact SUV. This means it will sit in the market with no direct competition. It will be a bit like the Audi A1, which has no real rivals in terms of BMW, Lexus or Mercedes-Benz products.
As far as we know the Q2 will adopt Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform that also underpins the Audi A3 and latest VW Golf. This will allow for various powertrain options, including front-wheel and all-wheel drive.
Inside, the Q2 is expected to showcase Audi’s latest interior design and layout with a comprehensive Audi Virtual Cockpit fully digital instrument cluster. An MMI LCD infotainment system is also expected.
Will Audi release yet another teaser with no information? Or will it now wait for the Geneva Motor Show debut on March 1? We’re betting there will be additional vague previews to come.
