Audi has unveiled the 2016 A4 Allroad quattro at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which, among other things, has gained 34mm in ground clearance and is available with a wider range of powertrains.
For the new model Audi is offering TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engine options, producing from 110kW and up to 200kW. Three transmissions options are available too, including a six-speed manual, seven-speed s tronic dual-clutch auto, and a redesigned eight-speed auto, with all models equipped with quattro all-wheel drive.
Underpinning the new model is a revised suspension setup with a five-link layout replacing the trapezoidal-link rear end on the outgoing model. Ride height is increased by 23mm, with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard helping to supply 34mm of overall increase ground clearance.
Audi’s latest infotainment and Virtual cockpit MMI (multimedia interface) technologies have made their way inside. Audi connect services link passengers via a high-speed LTE connection, and there is also a range of driver assist functions offered by Audi. Predictive efficiency assistant, adaptive cruise control, Stop&Go including traffic jam assist are some of the highlights.
According to Audi the new A4 allroad “redefines the benchmark for weight, aerodynamics, acoustic comfort, storage space and driver assistance systems”.
Audi Australia has confirmed the new model will arrive on the market during the third quarter of 2016. Engine and trim options are yet to be announced.
