Holden has announced some details of the new 2012 Holden Commodore, which will be available in a new Perfect Blue exterior colour, inspired by the Peter Brock Formula Blue HDT Group A VK SS Commodore.

The new 2012 Holden Commodore is just around the corner now, with production kicking off today. The new MY12 Holden Commodore won’t actually hit the market until later in the year, however, some details of the new variants have been revealed.

The new 2012 Holden Commodore SS V-Series Redline Edition will come with FE3 sports suspension across the range (sedan, wagon and ute). Redline SS-V Editions will also come with new forged 19-inch alloy wheels that hide a Brembo four-piston brake package.

Other visual changes for the new model include the introduction of 16-inch alloy wheels as standard on the 2012 Holden Commodore Omega, and a fresh face with chrome trimming incorporated around the major contours and air intakes in the front end – chrome detailing varies to certain degrees depending on the model.

The new 2012 Holden Commodore Calais V-Series will come with a rear lip spoiler, which will also be available as an option across the MY2012 Holden Commodore range.

All new models will be available in the new Perfect Blue colour, as well as a new Chlorophyll teal green colour, which offers a pearl colour flip effect. Holden Chief Designer Sharon Gauci spoke about the colour and the relationship with Peter Brock in a recent report, saying,

“We wanted the colour to express that unique connection Holden had with Peter, who was an incredibly talented man and a fine ambassador for Holden. Peter left a lasting impression on Holden and our company heritage so Perfect Blue is our way of celebrating his achievements.

“Perfect Blue strikes a balance between matching the original and creating a new colour that’s sympathetic to the modern surface body language of Commodore.”

The new 2012 Holden Commodore range will hit the market some time later this month. We’ll keep you posted.
