The new 2012 Subaru XV is the Impreza equivalent to the Subaru Outback, only it features a more playful, rough and ready character. It’s now available in Australia.
Subaru Australia is introducing three different model variants, ranging from the 2.0i, 2.0i-L, and the flagship 2.0i-S. All variants are available with a CVT (continuously variable) or six-speed manual transmission.
All versions are powered by the new Impreza 2.0-litre four-cylinder boxer engine as well, producing 110kW of power and 196Nm of torque. The manual version consumes an average of 7.3L/100km, while the CVT is rated at 7.0L/100km.
Although it’s not hugely powerful, the 2012 Subaru XV is all about creating a new fun element to the otherwise bland market segment. The XV sits on a jumped up version of the Impreza platform, offering increased ground clearance (75mm, 220mm overall) for light sporty off-roading.
Inside, the XV comes with a Multi-Function Display for all infotainment functions and settings, as well as a USB/iPod/Bluetooth compatible stereo. The 2.0i-L and 2.0i-S variants also get satellite navigation.
Other highlights include 17-inch alloy wheels, five-star ANCAP safety, a reversing camera and stop-start technology.
