Under new ownership in Australia, retail prices for various Alfa Romeo and Fiat vehicles have been slashed as part of a new plan to “sow the seeds for strong and sustainable growth in the Australian market,” according to Fiat-Chrysler CEO Clyde Campbell.
At a meeting in Melbourne today, Fiat-Chrysler Group announced there will be more dealerships in Australia for Fiat and Alfa Romeo as well as lower prices, making the Italian brands more accessible.
Prices will be cut on Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Alfa Romeo MiTo models, as well as Fiat 500 and 500 Cabriolet variants. Prices are also set to be readjusted for the performance Abarth versions later down the track. Clyde Campbell said,
“Since we took over the distribution of the brands in May last year, we have been working hard to ensure the vehicles in all our Italian brands are more accessible to the Australian market.
“And the first factor we looked at was the price of our current range.”
Up until last year, Fiat and Alfa Romeo were run through ATECO automotive dealer network – current controllers of Ferrari, Maserati, and Lotus. With Fiat now owning Chrysler, various big changes have taken place and those changes are now beginning to take effect here in Australia.
