Hyundai has topped the timesheets at the most recent WRC race weekend, taking out the inaugural WRC Central European Rally event ahead of the final rally in Japan.
Hyundai’s Thierry Neuville and Martjin Wydaeghe won the Central European Rally held across Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, taking their second victory and securing Hyundai’s 15th podium for the year.
All up, Neuville and Wydaeghe finished the final overall classification table in their i20 N Rally1 Hybrid with a time of 2:52:39.9, beating out current leaders, Rovanpera and Halttunen in the GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid by 57.6 seconds.
The Central European Rally was held primarily on tarmac surfaces, spanning 18 stages and 312km in total.
The most recent win puts the Hyundai Shell Mobis team at 399 points, trailing Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team by 105 points, who stands at 504 points with just one event remaining.
It also puts Hyundai’s Central European Rally-winning Thierry Neuville in third place, though just seven points behind second place as the teams head into the Rally Japan in a few weeks time.
