Video: Chevrolet Corvette supercharged to 1050hp vs golf cart in drag race

Mitchell Jones

A C6 Chevrolet Corvette, ProCharged with a centrifugal supercharger making 782kW (1050hp) at the wheels is not something you expect to lose many drag races.

Not to exotics, not to most roadcars and most of all, not to a golf cart. Hang on, what? Yep that’s right a golf cart just dusted off one of America’s most celebrated sports cars with a high boost forced induction system added to it.

To be fair, this isn’t your run-of-the-mill electric golf buggy, but changes appear to be limited to fatter tyres, wheelie bars and a screaming motorbike drivetrain.

With only 117kW at its disposal, the putters’ best friend overtakes that Vette like it’s standing still. How is this possible with 14 per cent of the power? Well the Corvette Z06 in standard form weighs 1420kg, while your average golf cart weighs around 200kg, around 14 per cent as well. This explains why it takes off like a Spanish fly while the heavier sports car is still scrabbling for grip.

Anyway, enough analysis, the best thing to do with these videos is just watch them – it’s not every day you see a golf cart achieve this.
