Four variant grades have been confirmed for Australia – ST, TS, Ti, TL – and both petrol and diesel engine options are available with the new Nissan QASHQAI mid-size crossover, which arrives in local dealerships in July.

The new model, which sits along side the X-Trail as more of a road-going hatch, takes on Nissan’s latest styling language. It’s built on the Renault-Nissan Common Module Family platform which also underpins the X-Trail. Nissan promises an even greater level of premium comfort, technology, and attractive looks with the new version.

Some of the interesting technology updates include LED daytime running lights, adjustable steering modes, NissanConnect with smartphone connection and integrated apps (Facebook and Pandora), and an enhanced ‘Advanced Driver Assist Display’ console.

Under the bonnet, two engine packages are on offer. There’s the 2.0-litre ‘MR20’ four-cylinder petrol producing 106kW and 200Nm, and there’s the 1.6-litre ‘R9M’ turbo-diesel producing 96kW and 320Nm. The petrol is available with either a six-speed manual or CVT auto, while the diesel only comes with the CVT auto.
