HSV Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD LTZ announced for Australia

Check out this mammoth. HSV has confirmed some details and specs of the Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD LTZ, which comes in as the fifth (and largest) Silverado model for HSV.

Under the bonnet the 3500HD LTZ uses the same 6.6-litre turbo-diesel Duramax V8 as seen in the 2500HD. It produces 332kW of power and a massive 1234Nm of torque. This is sent through an Allison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission.

The massive machine offers an impressive towing capacity, as you might have expected just by looking at it. Maximum braked capacity is a whopping 9 tonnes, while the payload capacity is 2.2 tonnes. With a 9000kg towing pintle, the gross combined mass is 14,197kg.

Although the 3500HD isn’t four-wheel drive, the truck does come with a locking differential for added traction. There’s also 210mm of ground clearance, and a 21.5-degree approach angle and 26.3-degree departure angle. You will be limited somewhat for outright off-road agility though, as the 3500HD measures 6564mm long and 2438mm wide.

Inside, passengers are well catered for with 10-way power adjustable front seats with heating and cooling functions thanks to the perforated leather upholstery. There’s also dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable pedals for the driver, and a heated steering wheel.

For the dash there’s an 8.0-inch MyLink touch-screen media interface. It offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, with voice recognition, Bluetooth, and USB ports. Sounds are sent through a seven-speaker Bose sound system.

The exterior comes with heavy-duty recovery hooks, 17-inch alloy wheels in chrome with dual wheels at the rear, along with a range of chrome trimmings to complete the look. Forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and front and rear parking sensors come as standard.

HSV “re-manufacturers” the Chevrolet Silverado to right-hand drive at its new production facility in South Clayton, Victoria. Manufacturing commences this month. See below for the starting prices for the complete local range (excludes on-road costs):
