Holden VF Commodore priced from $34,990, $5k-$10k cheaper

Holden Australia has officially announced prices for the upcoming 2014 Holden VF Commodore, which will hit the market early in June. The new range is between $5000 and $9800 cheaper than the outgoing VE range.

2014 Holden VF Commodore Evoke-Nitrate silver-

The range now starts with the new entry-level Commodore Evoke, which replaces the outgoing Omega. It brings a higher level of standard equipment along with plenty of new technology. Power comes from a 3.0-litre SIDI V6. Specific outputs are yet to be announced.

Prices will start at $34,990 for the Evoke, some $5000 cheaper than the equivalent outgoing VE model.

Philip Brook, Holden executive director of sales and marketing, recently spoke about the new variant, saying,

“Evoke is a great car that people will want to own, it will be an aspirational vehicle. The features we’ve made standard show Holden is serious about making world class technology accessible to all our customers.

“Starting with Evoke we have simplified Commodore’s pricing and value walk up with logical price and equipment increments and very strong sports and luxury identities.

“We think Commodore represents unbelievable value and will win over a new generation of Australians.”

Evoke features include:

  • Enhanced voice recognition
  • Auto park assist for parallel and right-angle parking, and a rear-view camera
  • An eight-inch, high-resolution colour touch screen with Holden’s MyLink app-embedded technology including voice recognition and Siri Eyes Free integration
  • Full iPod integration
  • Built-in apps like Pandora and Stitcher SmartRadio
  • An electric park brake with automatic release
  • Hill hold control and hill start assist
  • Trailer sway control
  • Remote vehicle start (automatic transmission only)

2014 Holden VF Calais-Alchemy-

Stepping up a level goes straight into the VF Calais – no more Berlina. It comes with Blind Spot Alert and Reverse Traffic Alert, as well as a sensor key with push-button start. It will also come with the usual luxuries you’d expect in the Calais. The Calais V will return, with an optional 6.0-litre V8. Power figures are yet to be announced.

Prices for the Calais and Calais V are significantly reduced over the current range, with the Calais V V6 dropping by $9800. The Calais will start from $39,990 (down $8000), while the Calais V will kick off at $46,990 for the V6 version and $52,990 for the V8 (down $9000).

  • Sensor key technology with push button start

VF Calais V features include:

  • 6.0L Gen IV V8 engine (option)
  • Either-way power driver seat
  • 19 -inch alloy wheels (4)
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Colour Head-up Display
  • Nine-speaker Bose premium audio (sedan only)
  • Satellite navigation with full colour mapping with live traffic updates, traffic management control and points of interest (option on Calais)
  • Rain sensing wipers
  • Heated front seats
  • Sunroof (sedan only)
  • DVD (playable stationary)

2014 Holden VF Commodore SSV front-Fantale-

For the performance enthusiasts, the SV6, SS, and SS V will return. Specific outputs are yet to be announced, however, the SV6 will be powered by the 3.6-litre SIDI V6, while the SS gets a 6.0-litre Gen IV V8.

Prices are also slashed on the sports models; the VF Commodore SV6 will start at $35,990 (down $6800), the SS will kick off from just $41,990 (down $5800), and the SS V will start at $45,490 (down $9800). The SS V Redline will start at $51,490 (down $6300).

  • 3.6L SIDI V6 engine (SV6) and 6.0-litre Gen IV V8 engine (SS)
  • Front and rear sports fascia
  • 18-inch alloy wheels (4)
  • LED daylight running lamps
  • Sportec/cloth sports seats
  • Lip spoiler (sedan only)
  • Blind Spot Alert (option on Evoke)

  • Chrome exhaust tip

VF SS V features include:

  • 6.0-litre Gen IV V8 engine
  • Leather appointed seats
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Sensor key technology with push button start
  • Front fog lamps
  • Colour digital instrument display: vehicle information menu, trip information menu, fuel economy menu, warning/messages
  • Satellite navigation with full colour mapping with live traffic updates, traffic management control and points of interest
  • Footwell lamps
  • Eight speakers
  • DVD (playable when stationary)

VF SS V Redline features include:

  • Brembo brakes
  • Forged 19-inch alloy wheels (4)
  • Colour Head-up Display
  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Updated FE3 sports tuned suspension
  • Nine-speaker Bose premium audio (sedan only) (option package on SS V with sunroof)
  • Sunroof (sedan only)

Brook spoke about the sports models, saying,

“The Holden engineering team is really proud of what they’ve been able to achieve with Redline. VF Redline also has wider rear wheels for extra traction and includes competition mode with launch control and track settings for the true enthusiasts who participate in track days.

“We launched the Redline range at Series II and it’s been a huge success. Within two years it’s carved out a spot at the top of the ladder as the absolute best in luxury, sports performance.”

With these sort of prices and a much more advanced and technology-filled cabin, and more prestigious styling and cabin quality, the VF Commodore is expected to be a popular one.

Thank heavens for small mercies They have woken up and started to take notice of what people want a solid car with the correct and important upgrades and instead of Auto being more expensive as that is what most people want , the Manual will cost more well done HOLDEN Three Mighty Cheers you may have just saved yourself as a production site in Australia . But for goodness sake look at doing more and better things to this car and KEEP , always keep the cost down . If you can do that and I buy another car I would say that my next car will be HOLDEN . Somthing which you lost sight of a long time ago that the HOLDEN car was and Is the Australian Family car
