Hennessey McLaren MP4-12C HPE800 tuning preview

American high performance tuning specialist Hennessey Performance has revealed its plans for a Hennessey McLaren MP4-12C HPE800 twin-turbo tuning program.

As the name suggests, up to 800hp will be on offer with the new kit, not that the 441kW 3.8-litre stock twin-turbo V8 lacks in the power and performance department.

Thanks to a range of engine revisions, including new ball-bearing turbochargers, new intercoolers, and a titanium exhaust system, as well as other changes mentioned below, the kit promises to amp up power to 597kW.

To keep it all cool and running smoothly, the Hennessey McLaren MP4-12C HPE800 kit will also come with a full carbon fibre bodykit (previewed in these renderings). The kit will include a revised front air dam and intakes to improve cooling, while a transmission cooler is also fed air from the front.

Not only will the bodykit be active in assisting performance, it will also give the MP4-12C a more aggressive look. There are huge heat-extracting vents in the all-new rear bumper bar, while at the front and rear there are also new carbon fibre spoilers to keep air running over the car, and to keep it pressed into the tarmac.

Company founder John Hennessey recently made some comments during the announcement of the MP4-12C HPE800 kit, saying,

“We’ve been taking fast cars and have been making them faster for over twenty years. I spent a lot of time around the new 12C at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was very impressed.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to take a great car and give it our own special performance touch while giving 12C owners a uniquely aggressive appearance.”

Full pricing details are yet to be finalised, however, Hennessey says the kit will become available in separate parts or as a complete kit.
