Judging by this teaser image, at least one of the concept cars will be quite futuristic. The steering wheel adopts an F1-style layout with paddle shifters and minimal buttons. You can also just see the M-coloured stitching on the rim. No further information has been revealed regarding the rest of the vehicle.

There are some rumours circulating that suggest BMW could be about to unveil a high-performance M4 concept, potentially along the lines of an M4 ‘GTS’. The company has been spotted testing various M4 prototypes that featured vast aero enhancements. Could this steering wheel preview such a model?

It is believed the other concept could be a preview to the BMW M2, which has been seen countless times in prototype form out on the Nurburgring. The M2 will sit above the current M235i, showcasing a high level of performance in traditional M car fashion.

All will be revealed at BMW’s annual press conference in Pebble Beach on August 13, before going public at the commencement of the Concourse d’Elegance event. In a statement, BMW said:

“In celebrating of its 40th anniversary, BMW of North America will unveil two world premier concept cars during its annual press conference at the BMW Villa in Pebble Beach. Public showings later that weekend are planned for The Quail, A Motorsport Gathering, Legends of the Autobahn Concours d’Elegance, Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion and Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.”
