The all-new, fourth generation Lexus RX is now on sale in Australia, bringing a fresh design inside and out, new engine options, more technology, and a more dynamic drive experience.

2016 Lexus RX 350 F Sport

In Australia, three main variants are being introduced, spanning from the new RX 200t turbo, the RX 350 V6, to the range-topping RX 450h hybrid. Some of these are available with either the Luxury, F Sport, or Sports Luxury trim package.

Kicking off the range is the RX 200t. Under the bonnet is Lexus’s new 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine producing 175kW of power and 350Nm of torque. It’s only available with front-wheel drive, using a six-speed automatic, and comes in Luxury grade only.

Next up, the RX 350 carries over the widely-used 3.5-litre petrol V6 engine producing 221kW and 370Nm (up 15kW and 24Nm on outgoing RX 350). It’s connected up to an eight-speed automatic with all-wheel drive, and is available in all three trim grade levels, including in sporty F Sport guise.

Lastly, the RX 450h comes with a V6 petrol engine combined with an electric motor system. Combined output is rated at 230kW, which is up 10kW over the outgoing 450h. Power goes through a CVT auto with all-wheel drive.

In terms of design, the 2016 RX showcases the sharp styling language featured on modern Lexus vehicles. It also features a swooping roofline and bulging wheel arches following in the same vein as the smaller NX SUV. Aerodynamic efficiency is improved 7.0 per cent over the outgoing model too.

Standard features for all models, at minimum, include 10-way power adjustable front seats (14-way for Sports Luxury models), a 12-speaker stereo with digital radio (15 speakers for upper variants), a power adjustable steering column, three-mode driver select system, a power tailgate, 20-inch alloy wheels, and Lexus Safety System with pre-collision, lane-keeping assist, and all-speed active cruise control.

Prices for the new range are as follows (excluding on-road costs):

2016 Lexus RX 200t Luxury (FWD) – $73,000
